Higher Thresholds for Company Takovers

With press statement dated 19.12.2018, the German Federal Government has informed about a current decision of the Cabinet which entails higher thresholds for company takeovers.

By changing the German Foreing Trade Ordinance, the Federal Government is raising the thresholds for areas which are particularly sensitive. In the future, the Federal Government will be able to examine the planned acquisition of shares of at least 10% (up to now 25%).

This concerncs companies which are essential for the security of Germany, especially from the defense or critical infrastruture sectors (e.g. utility, food industry as well as media companies).
